HOPE Exchange Programme 2012

HOPE logoThe HOPE Exchange Programme offers a unique opportunity for healthcare professionals across Europe.

Aimed at

The HOPE Exchange Programme is aimed at managers and clinicians who also have a managerial role.  Participants will see how another healthcare system is structured, consider the similarities and differences when compared with the NHS and identify good practice, benefiting the individual and their organisation alike.

Dates of programme

The 2012 programme will run from the 14th May to the 14th June 2012, at the end of which all participants across Europe will come together in Berlin, Germany to share their learning and present best practice. In addition to developing an understanding of the programme theme in another healthcare system, participants have an opportunity to consider specific interests agreed with their host organisation enabling them to take valuable aspects of learning back into their work environment. Networks also form between both individuals and organisations and these can lead to future visits and continued shared learning for many years to come.

The theme for 2012 is “Ageing Health Workforce - Aging Patients: Multiple challenges for hospitals and healthcare in Europe." Two participants from different professional backgrounds and countries are usually placed together so that as well as discussing your own services you can also benefit by hearing first hand about different systems and thinking from the EU participants. The host may be drawn from acute, mental health or primary care, dependant on the structure of the health system in the country concerned. Placements in specialist hospitals may also be possible. Participants will usually be placed with a health care professional from another country providing a third national perspective to their programme.
