The First NHS EMCC Coaching Conference, 10th March 2010
The First NHS EMCC Coaching Conference was held at the Midland Hotel in Manchester on 10 March 2010 and was jointly funded by the National Leadership Council (NLC) and the NHS Institute and co-sponsored by the EMCC.
The conference was hosted by the Board Development team who worked very closely with colleagues from all SHAs and EMCC in designing / planning the day.
Nearly 200 delegates took part comprising primarily senior leaders, emergent leaders and HR and OD professionals and the day worked incredibly well. The excellent line up of speakers, included Sue James, NLC Emergent Leader Workstream Lead and CEO of Walsall Hospitals, the inspirational Phil Morley, CEO Mid-Cheshire Hospitals on creating a coaching culture in his organisation, Professor David Megginson (from the NHS Institute Executive Coaching Register) generated thinking and future actions through an interactive Appreciative Inquiry and Professor David Clutterbuck, one of the top HR thinkers in the UK chaired the day.
The conference was geared towards how coaching can support performance in a tough financial climate and our last speaker of the day, Jessica Pryce-Jones from i-Opener, talked about her research on the links between happiness and staff productivity. Not surprisingly she found happy staff were 125% more productive and significantly reduced sickness/ absence rates.
Feedback from delegates and NLC Colleagues was excellent and very succinctly summarised by an Associate Director of Medical Education, FT as 'a very good event'.
A big thank you to all those who attended and all those who supported the event in planning, designing and delivering the day. Your contribution has been very much appreciated.
