Training for commissioners and finance officers
The Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) has partnered with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) to deliver a free, comprehensive training programme for commissioners and finance staff across the public sector. Courses will increase awareness and understanding of the third sector, help improve engagement and enable greater access to specialist knowledge that will benefit the delivery of public service.

The day will be interactive and case-study based to ensure the programme will be highly relevant and of real practical value to both senior officers involved in setting policy and finance and commissioning practitioners.

The King's Fund is carrying out a national survey on the subject of PCTs' use of external support for commissioning. The research is aimed at informing and influencing the Commissioning policy by developing an understanding of the national picture of commissioners’ developmental needs. The King's Fund are inviting all people working in PCTs, SHAs or PBC with knowledge of this area to give information on their experiences. The survey is a follow-up to a similar survey conducted in January 2009. The information collected will be used to inform a King's Fund publication to be released in Spring 2010. Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) payment framework
The key aim of the CQUIN framework is to support a shift towards the vision set out in High Quality Care for All, where quality is the organising principle. The framework helps make quality part of the commissioner-provider discussion everywhere. This site contains examples of existing quality schemes that were in operation prior to the introduction of the CQUIN payment framework, and will publish examples of new CQUIN schemes, as they develop.
