The NHS Institute closed on 31 March 2013. This website is being maintained until the end of June 2013 so that registered users can download documents and view videos (but webinars are no longer available). Once this website is closed you'll be able to see all publicly available content on The National Archives website: http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/*/http://institute.nhs.uk.

Please note that from May 1st 2013 the ability to order our hard copy materials will be temporarily suspended as we finalise the closedown of the NHS Institute and complete the transition to NHS Improving Quality (part of NHS England). It will still be possible to download publications until this website closes, which is projected to be at the end of June 2013. It is currently anticipated that many of the materials will be passed onto NHS England and should become available again later this year.

Further messages on its future will be posted here over the coming weeks.

Well Organised Theatre resources

Well Organised Theatre resources
These resource documents aid implementation of The Productive Operating Theatre Well Organised Theatre module.

The Well Organised Theatre module helps teams organise their workplace better to support the processes being carried out in theatres, simplifying the workplace and reducing waste by having everything in the right place, at the right time, ready to go.
The resource documents have been added to a zip file, which you can download to your computer.

These include:

5S Game handout
5S Inventory Sheet
Activity follow sheet
Completed activity follow
Incorrectly completed activity follow
Video waste walk sheet

Zip file instructions

The resource documents have been grouped into a single 'zip file' which you can download to your computer. To see the individual files, 'un-zip' the file using a tool such as WinZip, which may already be on your computer. Alternatively, you can download an unzipping tool from the internet. Download and save the 'zip file' to your desktop or into a directory. Then right-click on the file name to show the short-cut menu; click 'open with...' or 'Extract to here' to open the folder and bring out the files. For more on how to use 'zip files', see this FAQ.
